Thursday lates

Thursday Lates

Manchester Art Gallery is open every Thursday until 9pm.

The gallery adopts a more grown-up mood in the evening. Meet friends for a cheeky beer or glass of wine and forget the hassles of your day when you browse our exhibitions and displays.

There’s often something special going on too, from live music to an artist’s talk. Check below or give us a call for details of what’s happening each week.

Philosophy Cafe at Thursday Lates. Play: Do adults lose the capacity to play?

Due to popular demand, we are now running two Philosophy Cafe sessions per month; on the second Tuesday morning and the fourth Thursday evening of each month.

This Thursday evening session will be an informal discussion session based on the topic of Play: Do adults lose the capacity to play? The session will start in the gallery cafe bar and will then continue in the gallery spaces using a related artwork in the Ryan Gander exhibition.

Absolutely everyone is welcome; the only requirement is a willingness to be open and friendly toward others' points of view. It's a great way to have a meaningful conversation, meet new people and gives you the perfect excuse to visit the gallery. The session is free, you just need to bring a bit of money if you'd like a drink in the cafe.

No need to book, just turn up. For more information, please contact Ruth Edson
