A special day of relaxation for all the family. Chill out in group knitting sessions, follow well-being trails and join singing and body percussion workshops.

Body Percussion workshop

Lecture Room
Timed sessions at 1.15 – 1.45, 2.00 – 2.30 and 2.45 – 3.15
An interactive music making workshop run by Ros Hawley and Mark Fisher of the Royal Northern College of Music. You’ll create a sound piece with other people; exploring the ways you can use your body and a range of instruments to make music and rhythm.

Singing workshop

Timed sessions at 1.30 – 2.00, 2.15 – 2.45 and 3.00 – 3.30
Find out how uplifting singing with other people can be in this workshop run by expert singing teacher Audrey Imattis.

Colour and Mood workshop

Drop in session, 1- 4
Explore how colours can affect mood and make a collaged mini canvas to take home. Workshop run by painter Katy McCall.

Knitting

Vallette Gallery
Drop in session, 1- 4
Chill out in a knitting booth, try out giant knitting bobbins, tangle yourself up with finger knitting, or make a knitted brooch to take home. Workshop run by knitting artist Liz Noble.

Musical Performance

Atrium
2.30 – 3.00
Listen to a live performance by professional musicians Da Capo, a flute and classical guitar duo. Da Capo play a variety of music from folk to flamenco, as well as classical music, from Bach to Piazzolla.

Being promoted from the Atrium, 1 – 4
Take this trail around the gallery looking at paintings that have been chosen for the positive thoughts and feelings they evoke. The trail poses lots of interesting questions, includes activities to try at home, and should help to chill you out.
