Burri’s remarkable work has now been brought together in this stunning career retrospective. It includes over 200 modern and vintage prints, collages, photomontages and documentary films.
Themes included in the exhibition include portraits form the world of politics, portraits from the world of the arts and photo essays from countries around the world, including Germany, Italy, France, the United States, Cuba, Brazil and countries across Asia. Burri, having initially been interested in film, is particularly keen on long projects as opposed to single images: highlights include a photo essay on the life of the last gauchos in Argentina, the famous portrait series of Che Guevara and Pablo Picasso, his street photography series across the cities of Brazil and his many photo stories on world conflicts.
This is the only UK venue for the exhibition.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, published by Phaidon Press, which is on sale in the gallery shop.
