Why not start your own contemporary art collection? For the very first time Manchester Art Gallery presents visitors with the exciting opportunity to take a work of art away with them, to enjoy forever. As part of The First Cut, we have commissioned a series of limited edition artworks by selected artists from the show. You can find these on display at the gallery available to purchase from £125.
Limited editions artworks are an important extension of the artists’ creative practice. The artist determines the medium and each work is carefully produced under their direct supervision. Unlike a reproduction which is a copy of an original, The First Cut: Editions are all first generation works artworks; originals in their own right.
The artist initials and numbers each work in pencil. The numbers indicate the unique number of the work and the total edition size. For example, 10/100 is the tenth print from a total edition of 100. A limited edition means only a small number are ever produced, ranging in number from 10 – 500. No further copies of the work will be produced thus ensuring the exclusive nature of the artwork.
The First Cut: Editions makes it possible for you to own a work of art by an internationally acclaimed artist.
You can take advantage of the Own Art Scheme by Arts Council England which makes buying contemporary art easy and affordable.
