Study for Guinevere, Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Artists in this display all rejected the rigidity of 19th century academic training and, through drawing, developed their own individual style.
Seeking inspiration in history and literature, they used the clear bright colours and simplicity associated with medieval art. This exhibition illustrates how drawing helped these artists develop their ideas and produce works of great poetry and imagination.
This exhibition complements our major show for autumn 2008 Holman Hunt and the Pre-Raphaelite Vision.
