On Friday 12 July, the BBC Digital arts service The Space will host a live stream of performances from the ‘do it 20 13’ exhibition from 10:30 - 6pm with a day of live interviews and performances. The Space will celebrate twenty years of ‘do it’ plus show the best responses from the public.

Cleaning Conditions: Performances by Suzanne Lacy (An Homage to Allan Kaprow) 

Sweeping the dust from the floor of a room,
spreading the dust in another room
so it won’t be noticed.
Continuing daily

Suzanne is responding to this instruction by the artist Allan Kaprow (1927-2006) This was created in 1995, but was a continuing theme of his work, which explored how art and life could converge through performance pieces, using everyday objects and familiar actions. Cleaning Conditions continues an on-going conversation between Lacy and Kaprow, one that began in the 1970s at California Instituted of the Arts.
