This course is now fully booked. You can add your name to the reserve list in case of cancellations. Spend two days exploring ideas and techniques for taking photographs of everyday scenes. A short course for adults of all abilities.

What is the course?

Using the Rene Burri exhibition as a starting point, this course explores the techniques and ideas behind documentary photography. The session will be based on practical exercises and open discussions to discover how documentary photography can be used to tell a story. Participants will be able to create their own documentary photographs based on specific themes and discuss their images as a group.

Each day there will be 2 x 2 hour sessions 11am-1pm and 2-4pm.
You need to attend all sessions.

Who is teaching the course?

Helena Wetterberg graduated from London College of Printing in 1999 with a degree in photography. Since then she has practised as an installation artist, using documentary photography as a basis for her work. She has exhibited at various venues in the UK and Sweden and also as part of the Arles Photography Festival, France.

Who is it for?

The course is designed for all levels of ability and particularly aimed at beginners.

What do I need to bring?

A camera, if possible. A limited number of digital cameras will be available, but these may have to be shared depending on the number of people attending the course.

What about lunch?

There will be a one hour lunch break. Lunch will not be provided, however there will be hot drinks available. You can bring your own lunch and eat it in our education studios. Or you can try our delicious café.  There are other places to eat in the nearby area.

What if I find out I can’t come?

Places are limited and there may be people who are on a waiting list for a place. If you can’t come for any reason please notify the gallery as soon as possible. We may be able to refund your money, if the cancellation is made a week before.
