Partners from Zaha Hadid Architects discuss the installation and transformation of one of the gallery spaces.
Commissioned by Manchester International Festival and co-produced by Manchester Art Gallery, the space has been transformed into an intimate chamber music hall created especially for performances of Bach's solo work.
One of the partners, Patrik Schumacher, joined the practice in 1988. A student of philosophy and architecture, he received his Diploma in Architecture in 1990. Since 1992 he has been teaching at various architectural schools throughout Europe and the USA.
In 1996 he started the Design Research Laboratory with Brett Steele, at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London where he continues to serve as a co-director. He is also a professor at the Institute for Experimental Architecture, Innsbruck University. His contribution to the discourse of contemporary architecture is also evident in his writings.
