The second in a series of nine lectures by Nirvana Romell exploring 20th century art movements. This lecture features artists Seurat, Van Gogh and Gauguin.
A series of monthly lectures exploring the explosion of different styles of art in the 20th century. The series explains the basic principles behind modern art as well as the historical development and demise of the whole movement, from the 1870s until the 1960s. The focus is on painting and main movements such as Impressionism, Cubism and Expressionism. Special attention will be paid to the works from Manchester Art Gallery’s own collection.
No previous knowledge is necessary. Come to one or all nine lectures.
