Taking your inspiration from our Holman Hunt exhibition, learn more about painting portraits on this relaxed two day course for adults. This course is repeated on the 10/11 January 2009
What's the course about?
This course takes inspiration from portraits painted by the celebrated Pre-Raphaelite William Holman Hunt (who is also the focus of our current exhibition). It's an opportunity to experiment with paint. You'll develop your understanding of how you can construct pictures of clothed figures. On both afternoons you'll be working from a live model.
There are only 15 places on the course, so the atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly. Each day there'll be 2 x 2 hour sessions (11am-1pm and 2-4pm). You need to attend all sessions.
Who teaches the course?
Jill Harrison is an artist based in Mosley who produces drawings and paintings. She also teaches adult classes at Tameside College in Ashton and runs her own life-drawing classes.
Jill was lovely, approachable, kind manner and a good teacher.
Jill’s really good at explaining stuff – good balance of explanation and hands on working.
Who's the course for?
The course is designed for all levels of ability. You don't need to have had experience of using paint, or painting a figure before.
What do I need to bring?
Nothing! All the materials will be provided.
What about lunch?
There'll be a one hour lunch break. Lunch isn't provided, but there will be hot drinks available. You can bring your own lunch and eat it in our education studios. Or you can try the delicious food served in our cafe! There are other places to eat in the nearby area, if you prefer.
