The first in a series of nine lectures exploring twentieth century art movements, run by Nirvana Romell. This lecture looks at artists from Turner to Monet.
Our new series of monthly lectures focuses on the explosion of different styles of art in the 20th century. The series explains the basic principles behind modern art as well as the historical development and demise of the whole movement, from 1870s till 1960s’.
The focus is on different styles of painting, including Impressionism, Cubism and Expressionism. Special attention will be paid to the works from the Gallery’s own collection.
No previous knowledge is necessary but lots of curiosity, open mind and a sense of humour will come useful! Come to one or all nine lectures.
