The Philosophy Cafe is an informal discussion group meeting on the second Tuesday of each month between 10.30-12.

The Philosophy Café at Manchester Art Gallery is an informal discussion group

Absolutely everyone is welcome; the only requirement is a willingness to be open and friendly toward others’ points of view. Participants discuss topics broadly related to philosophy, such as, “What is Art?” “Are We Free?” Each session will begin with looking at an artwork relating to the chosen question for the day and then will continue with a discussion in the gallery café. At the end of the meeting, participants propose and vote on topics for the next meeting; the topic that gets the most votes will be discussed at next Philosophy Café. It’s a great way to have a meaningful conversation, meet new people and gives you the perfect excuse to visit the gallery.

No need to book. Just turn up and meet Sue at the gallery information desk. The session is free, you just need to bring a bit of money if you’d like a drink in the café.
