Forget what you think you know about dance and imagine feeling free enough to respond to ideas and artworks using movement.
These workshops are about being curious, playful, open and free!
The workshops will be run by Gerry Turvey, a dance artist who collaborates with galleries. Gerry puts people at their ease and helps them use sculptural forms and visual images to develop ideas for movement. She guides participants in structured improvisations, encouraging creative play.
Each of the workshops will take an exhibition or display at Manchester Art Gallery as a starting point. They'll be about conversation with the artworks and will engage with shape, form and pattern, and will use drawing as well as movement.
Not sure if it's for you? Come and give it a go. It's free and there's no expectation of commitment to future sessions. Just turn up and wait in the gallery Atrium just before 2pm. Please wear loose comfortable clothing, and be prepared to go barefoot.
