Join our monthly knitting group at Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall.
These monthly workshops are relaxed, friendly and creative. Each month we take a look at something new and knitting-related together, have a go at some knitting ourselves and share what we've created. We always have something lined up for you to have a go at but you're welcome to bring along your own knitting project if you'd rather get on with that. New or first time knitters are very welcome too - we can match you up with an experienced knitter to get you started - what better way to learn?
This month: Bathing Elegance
Need a little pampering with a touch of luxury every now and again? If a spa retreat isn't on the cards, treat yourself to a unique designer (that's you!) 100% pure cotton flannel. Guaranteed to bring a little extra pleasure to every bath-time! Using simple knit and purl stitches to develop 'gansey' style patterns, Lucy Burscough will guide you through the process with tips and advice for absolute beginners and challenges for the experts.
Next month (Saturday 25 May): Lace is the Place
As spring has sprung it's time to knit on the lighter side! Drawing inspiration from the collections, and with an eye to the gallery's Knitted Elegance exhibition, why not come along and learn, or show off your amazing lace knitting techniques. We'll be working towards making a cute little bag, so if lace is beyond you, don't worry, there will be a simpler pattern for absolute beginners. Lacy Lucy Burscough will be leading the session with expert advice on hand from herself and our friendly group members.
The session is free but you may be tempted to treat yourself to a cuppa from our lovely cafe.
Close Knit takes place on the last Saturday of each month. Free, no need to book. All welcome.
