Dickens and the Artists
6.30pm The Lecture Theatre
Dickens and the Artists is an illustrated talk by Mark Bills, who curated an exhibition on this theme last year at The Watts Gallery. His talk explores Dickens’ view of art and artists and the significant influence that his writings had upon the art of his age.
After the talk there will be an opportunity to see Art in Hard Times: The Walk to Dover by Spartacus Chetwynd and Victorian Paintings of Modern Life, with Rebecca Milner, Curator: Collections Access.
Booking is essential for this talk. Book tickets through Eventbrite. There is no fixed charge for the talk but a donation in support of Manchester Art Galleries' programmes is requested when booking.
