Join us for this series of lectures on surrealism by experts from across the UK.
With Professor Elza Adamowicz, Professor of French Literature and Visual Culture, Queen Mary University of London
In this lecture Professor Elza Adamowicz will explore issues relating to subjectivity, identity and gender in the works of surrealist artists, including Cahun, Kahlo and Carrington. It will show how they rejected essentialist views of female subjectivity in favour of discourses and practices offering new articulations of feminine identity as fabrication, performance or hybridisation.
