Detail: Like to talk about art and life with other people? Join us for this lunchtime discussion about two art works on display. Just turn up and see what other people think and contribute your thoughts and ideas. Discussions are led by a member of gallery staff or a trained volunteer.

Meet in the Atrium near the main information desk in the centre of the building.

Title: Thursday lates

Type: Late opening

Time: 5 - 9pm

The gallery stays open until 9pm every Thursday. Have a drink with friends to get the weekend rolling, take in one of our three new exhibitions or spend a bit longer with just one piece of art or design.

Compare Geoffrey Baxter's groovy free-blown blue bowl with his tangerine, meadow green and ruby mould-blown vases. Both produced by Whitefriars Glass Ltd. Find them in the House Proud exhibition. Figure out how Jin Eui Kim creates a play between optical illusion and reality on his bowls in the Eastern Exchanges exhibition. And see the artist explain all in a short film in the exhibition space. Marvel at how Emily Allchurch plays with dynamic design through photography to re-imagine Utagawa Hiroshige's 19th century prints in all their vivid glory.

Detail: The Philosophy Cafe is an informal discussion group combining art and philosophy. Each topic is chosen by the previous months group and links to current exhibitions on display. It's a great way to have a meaningful conversation and enjoy art. Meet in the cafe bar.

Description: Open doors is a series of creative activities especially for children with autism and other social communication issues, their families and carers. Come along and enjoy and explore art together. Sessions are free, no need to book and suitable for children and young people aged 5-16 with a parent and carer.
