10.00am - 5.00pm

Manchester Mela presents... 9 Bollywood cinema posters presented at Gallery of Costume and a creative workshop for families and adults in the park.

To celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema this poster exhibition uses posters that were serendipitously discovered in various locations at Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall by visiting artists and experts.

This Manchester Summer Mega Mela weekend gives us the opportunity to present these posters together for the first time recognising Bollywood cinema's significance in British fashion. Many of the costumes and jewellery in these films have also been translated into British Asian fashion over the years.

Take in the dramatic design and read about the films with interpretation by Dr Rajinder Dudrah, Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Manchester.

Head over to My Mela Bollywood Poster Studio in the Apna Creatives Marquee in the park to make your own free poster from 1-7pm.

Look out for a special performance in the park just in front of the Gallery at 1pm.

Free, no need to book, all welcome.
