Detail: Jennifer Little leads a tour in BSL exploring this unique show by Ed Atkins. Part of Manchester International Festival this exhibition will question and challenge performance and the digital world.

Title: Philosophy cafe

Detail: The Philosophy cafe at Manchester Art Gallery is an informal discussion session, meeting twice a month. Each session starts with looking at a piece of art linked to the topic. Absolutely everyone is welcome; the only requirement is a willingness to be open and friendly toward others' points of view. No need to book. Just turn up and meet Sue/Peter at the gallery information desk.

Title: Mindful marks

Detail: Join Artist Naomi Kendrick and find your flow in this open and friendly drawing workshops for adults. Drop in for as long as you like to mark-make amongst Masters such as Turner, Constable and Gauguin. Explore and develop drawing techniques inspired by Mindfulness.

Drawing experience or skills not required, just an open mind and some curiosity. Stay for two minutes or two hours.

Art Bites is about chatting with other people about art. Each week the session focuses on two contrasting art works on display at the gallery. It's a great way to find out what others think and express your own opinions about art.

Detail: Manchester Art Gallery is open until 9pm every Thursday. Meet with friends, catch an exhibition in your own time, or drop in for a few minutes to revisit a favourite art work. Detail: These workshops involve talking about and making art by using all of your senses. The sessions are audio described (for blind and partially sighted participants) and all materials and refreshments are provided. All adults welcome. Please book in advance. Tel: 0161 235 8855

Title: Take notice (after hours)

Time: 5:15 – 5.45pm, 6 – 6.30pm

Detail: Take Notice is a 30 minute free wellbeing session where visitors are guided in looking at and engaging with art using Mindfulness-based techniques. Recent studies have shown that regularly practicing Mindfulness can reduce stress, improve memory and concentration and lift your mood. No previous experience required.

Detail: English Corner is for people who are learning to speak English. Our English teacher leads activities that will help people to practise their speaking and listening skills, whilst exploring artworks and collections on display.

It's free. No need to book, just meet Lisa at the Information desk.

Title: Karrie Fransman illustrated talk

Type: Talk

Time: 6-7 p.m.

Detail: Meet Karrie Fransman, whose insightful Selves Portrait is on display at Manchester Art Gallery in the exhibition Artists in the Frame, as a creative response to Van Dyck's Self-portrait. Fransman is a comic artist and writer who has published two graphic novels with Penguin Random House - The House That Groaned and Death of the Artist. She has created comics for The Guardian, The Times, Time Out, The Telegraph and The New Statesman and presented her work in London and internationally. In this illustrated talk she will introduce both her 'selves' and her work: expect a fascinating evening.

Detail: Steve Hanton, Director of Studio Distract, the 3D animation studio who have developed the avatar and technologies for Performance Capture, will discuss the technical aspects and processes involved in live motion capture

Detail: Ad Hoc Dance have created this choreography in response to our House Proud exhibition. The choreography will take the audience on a unique tour of the exhibition, to experience a creative processional work. All welcome, please meet in the House Proud exhibition on Floor 1, 5 minutes before each performance is due to start.
