Join curator Kate Jesson in the company of a sexologist for a highlights tour of the gallery.

Frocks and Sex

Fashion designer Helen Storey in conversation with curator Miles Lambert and fashion commentator Caryn Franklin, exploring the relationship between sexuality and sensuality from a life in fashion and textiles.

Helen Storey has selected four dresses which interrogate the subtle balances and tension between sexuality, sensuality and evolving female wisdom in her design process.

These will form a gallery trail on display 19 February–1 March (10am–5pm Monday–Sunday, Thursdays until 9pm.

It seems you can't get enough of art and mindfulness. We don't blame you! Due to popular demand for the lunchtime sessions Take Notice returns for another monthly session but this time in the evening. Now you can practise mindfulness after a stressful day at the office in the beautiful setting of the art gallery and unwind before heading home. Come along to Take Notice and see for yourself. Everyone is welcome.

Open Doors is a series of creative activities especially for children with autism and other social communication issues, their families and carers. Come Along and enjoy and explore art togther. Sessions are free, no need to book and suitable for children and young people aged 5-16 with a parent and carer.

Chinese New Year
Family event 12 - 4pm

Join us to celebrate Chinese New Year, with an afternoon of traditional Chinese dance, music, storytelling and a special, drop-in workshop – Chop Chop, Sticks Sticks! – where you can customize your own wooden chopsticks. Why not take them into our cafe to try them out with the Chinese menu where there'll be special offers available for families too. A quiet room will be available.

Workshop for adults 2-4pm at the Gallery of Costume

Take this opportunity to knit in a relaxed sociable atmosphere at the Gallery of Costume. Beginners and experienced knitters welcome.

Each month Lucy Burscough leads a session inspired by the Gallery of Costume collection. This month we'll thinking about the costume in the BBC's Wolf Hall and knitting in the round on double pointed needles. Depending on how quick you are you might even go home with your own knitted 'butcher-boy' style cap.

No need to book, all materials provided.
