Our projects with partners Out in the City and Lesbian and Gay Youth Manchester has produced some thought provoking resources and artworks
We've worked with Manchester's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) communities on projects including Our selves, which examined misconceptions and stereotypes through self-portraits and the Pride art trail, in which members of the local LGBT communities provide commentary on artworks they have chosen from the gallery's collections.

Exploring stereotypes and misconceptions with Age Concern’s Lesbian and Gay Social Group ‘Out in the City’.
Members of Age Concern’s Lesbian and Gay Social Group Out in the City explored pre-conceptions and misconceptions in portraiture. They developed their own personal portraits by working with visual artist Jane McIver and photographer Ray Chan. A display of the portraits was shown in the Manchester Gallery during LGBT History Month in February 2006 and was also part of Pride 2006.
