Brown silk woven in alternating stripes of satin and twill weave, with fine red and cream stripes in the satin.
Bodice lined with white silk. Boned at seams and darts. High round neck with plain brown silk standing collar. Fastens down CF with seventeen small covered buttons. Opening covered by separate sections of brown silk, stitched to right front, edged down left side by braid and tassled silk pompoms, fastening to right side with hooks and eyes. Brown satin ribbon bow at neck. Small cushion at back. Long sleeves. Petersham ribbon inside waist, fastening CF. Padding from armhole to bust, to give extra fullness. Skirt is lined with brown twilled silk. Taffeta waistband, fastening CB with hooks and eyes. Front seam opens 9 inches below waist under three brown silk bows with pompoms. Tapes inside to hold back fullness in place. White cotton frill inside hem.
Tapes inisde not in original position - removed and stitched to waistband.
