Description

Circular plate with shallow curved well, sloping rim and inverted footring. Decorated with a bluish-white tin-glaze, upper surface painted with central circular medallion inscribed 'John / and: Elizabeth / Haslope / yarmouth / 1743'. Medallion enclosed by elaborate cartouche comprising three shaped panels of diamond diaper ground with flowering scroll borders, surrounded by three fish positioned between panels. Elaborate scroll border to plate rim with stylised flowering plants at regualar intervals. Underside painted with two concentric blue bands, two stilt marks to rim. Some pinholes to glaze.
