Flamboyant evening coat-dress in white satin overwoven with a delicate cellular pattern in black. Cut princess- style with flared stiffened lower skirt. Coat-dress opens neck to hem down CF and is lined throughout with black cotton poplin; low round neck edged with shaped and self-faced band of black velvet; fronts each in one section cut en princesse to above knee level, fastening with 9 self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes, 3 shaping darts each side, one underarm running into underarm seam and one CF taken up over bust to shoulder; side seam at side back; back cut in 2 sections to above knee level with CB seam, each side fitted with single dart carried up to shoulder; three quarter length sleeves in one section, the last inch turned back to form narrow cuff; inside petersham waistband fastening with hook & eye: skirt from above knee level cut in 6 very flared sections each joined to body with deep scalloped seam; each section forms a deep petal or lobe shape, edged with deep hem of black cotton velvet, the whole skirt stiffened with interlining; pleated balayeuse frill of black poplin sewn inside back hem: underskirt of black rayon poult; front in one section, 2 darts each side at waist, back to above knee level in 2 sections, fitted with darts at waist, lower back in 8 flared sections, pleated into seam at back and side front, stiffened with net and grey corded ribbon; fastening at L with zip and hook & eye at waist.
