Description

Grey woollen cloth. Coat lined with grey figured silk. Skirt lined with grey glazed cotton.
Coat : Turn down collar with rounded revers of black silk trimmed with black and silver braid. Narrow waistcoat fronts. White watered silk embroidered with black and silver braid, fastening with nine hooks and eyes. Open below waist. Long sleeves. Pocket in lining of left front below neck.
Skirt : Fastening with three hooks and eyes and four press fasteners below, to left of front waist. Pocket in lining opening.
Woven label at neck coat : "Horan, Smith & Co Ltd; Ladies Tailors & Furriers, Manchester"
Woven on waistband skirt : "Horan Smith & Co Ltd; St. Ann St., Manchester"
Worn by Miss Crapper, who was the daughter of a wealthy cotton manufacturer who built Slack Hall, Chapel-en-le-Frith.
