Striped fawn and black silk princess line dress, worn by the housekeeper to the Marquess of Cholmondley.
Day dress in fawn and black silk, fastening centre front with 18 small brown convex buttons; curved sleeves and plain round neck both edged in cream silk lace; pair of darts either side centre front; single left side watch pocket; centre back seam to waist with tight pleats below; 4 bands of horizontal pleats below waist to side back seams with 2 tone fringing below; applied flounce panel towards hem with vertical bands of sheering and a scalloped edge with fringe; pleated decoration below to hem; fully lined with brown cotton (cut in one with the back fabric and stitched together); no waist band or label
