Our family activities this summer are part of We Face Forward, an extravaganza of contemporary art and music from West Africa that's happening all over Manchester. They're suitable for families with children aged 0 - 11.
Our art workshops for families have been inspired by Nnenna Okore's When the Heavens Meet the Earth. This is just one of the amazing giant sculptures by artists from West Africa on show in our top floor exhibition gallery.
We'll be using natural and recycled materials to create art that's about all things earthy, muddy and squidgy. Come along and experiment with paper making and print making or clay prints and paintings. There'll be plenty of creative sensory play activities for babies and toddlers in our giant paper room or giant clay room. See the events calendar to find out which material we're using on which day.
Our performance workshops are inspired by contemporary West African music as well as art. On Tuesdays little ones can make creative moves inspired by nature in our dance workshop for 0-5s and on Thursdays older children can play with words, sound and movement in our dance workshop for 6-11s.
