Second Saturday of each month, 1 – 3pm
Registration for Family Art Club finishes at 1:30pm.
Family art club is a place to develop and extend creativity. Our artists and volunteers support children and carers to look closely at artworks, talk about what they see, make creative choices and try out new techniques. It’s a space for the whole family to enjoy and make together.
One of our volunteers will be waiting in the atrium to meet you and explain today’s workshop. Then it’s up to the gallery to investigate this month’s artwork. We might draw, write or talk about what we can see or feel then bring these responses back to the studio.
In the studio we create our own unique response using different techniques that might include printing, collage, drawing, sculpture, costume or clay work. Finally, we take our artwork back to the gallery and talk about what we’ve created and the choices we’ve made.
Family Art Club is specially designed by artist Sarah Marsh. Sarah's practice is experimental with elements of storytelling, narratives and exploration of organic shapes and structures.
Sarah likes to use a variety of materials and combinations to create interesting pieces that respond to the main themes of her artwork; the line, mapping and story telling through illustration, abstract painting and sculpture.
Each art club session lasts two hours but you don't have to stay the whole time. There's no need to book, though places are limited. Please arrive on time at 1pm to avoid disappointment.
If you plan on bringing 10 or more people in your family group please ring the number below in advance to let us know otherwise we may not be able to accomodate you.
