First Friday of each month 10.15am, 11.30am, 1.15pm, 2.30pm.
Sessions last 45 minutes.
Baby Art club is a space where carers and babies can play and explore together inspired by artworks in our collection. Often babies are exploring things for the first time and we let you determine the pace and play in the session. We aim to create a relaxing, sociable and flexible environment.
First Saturday of each month, Baby Saturday 1 - 3pm
Baby Saturday brings the best of our Baby Art Club into the weekend. There's no time limit and there is a chill out room next door where you can chat and help yourself to tea and coffee.
You need to book ahead for Friday's baby art club. We start taking bookings one week before the event. Baby Saturday is a drop in session, no need to book.
Please call: 0161 235 8888 to book your place
We start by signing in with Najia in the atrium then head up to the gallery to look at this month’s artwork. We’ll talk about what we see, feel or even hear in the artwork and how it has inspired today’s session.
It’s then time to head into the studio which has been transformed with projections, sounds and objects for you and baby to explore. There’s no right or wrong way to play and you can take it at your own pace. Naomi and Najia are always on hand with suggestions and advice if you need it.
Socialising with other with other parents is important too so we’ve created a space where you can sit and chat. There’s also a place to change nappies…if you’ve run out we’re happy to provide spares, just ask!
Baby Art Club has been specially designed by Naomi Kendrick. Naomi's art practice is an exploration of the senses. She is interested in the ways in which we perceive the world around us and in creating work that offers the audience a 'full' experience of something, making use of all the senses, not just sight.
For Baby Art Club we look at an art work in the gallery for inspiration and then create a multi sensory installation in response. Naomi loves creating this work for babies as they are at such an important sensory stage in their lives.
